Professor Saugata Hazra's laboratory is an integral part of the Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee.

The Hazra Group is dedicated to pioneer novel strategies to combat antibacterial-resistant (ABR) pathogens, employing two major approaches. First, we focus on the biochemical, biophysical, kinetic, and structural characterization of enzymes critical for resistance development, with a particular emphasis on enzyme beta-lactamase. Second, we utilize next-generation sequencing to understand antibacterial mechanisms in biomedical and environmental samples. Overall our research embraces an integrated "One Health" approach, targeting the ESKAPE pathogens.
